Job Description

The Senior Research Associate in the Molecular Biology group will be a highly motivated individual who is passionate about developing new genetic technologies that can help us create the next generation of superior enzymes and organisms, and who feels comfortable working in a collaborative close-knit group, participating in cutting-edge genetic and molecular evolution projects and having opportunities to contribute broadly to the company’s R&D programs, technology, and business. The highly trained scientist who can advance our RNA and DNA manufacturing programs with a focus on evolving high-efficiency RNA and DNA polymerases.

Essential Role Responsibilities

Technical Scope

  • Proficiency at the bench and love of hands-on laboratory work is essential; the ideal scientist will be highly creative in manipulating nucleic acids for the desired project outcomes.
  • Work with senior scientists and other key personnel to conduct hands-on laboratory experiments involving the manipulation of nucleic acids, proteins and/or cells focused on specific project outcomes.
  • Learn and employ a range of molecular, biochemical and/or cell biology techniques which may include:

    – PCR
    – Plasmid design and construction
    – Molecular cloning
    – Cell culture
    – DNA and RNA isolation
    – Protein expression and purification
    – in vitro transcription
    – Ultra-high-throughput screening

  • Maintain experimental notes within an electronic lab notebook environment.
  • Collaborate effectively within a small, dedicated team environment, contributing broadly to our R&D efforts, technological advancements, and business objectives.
  • Demonstration of time management and multitasking abilities
  • Candidates should have excellent communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills and/or aptitude.
  • Engages with colleagues within the department and across the organization to share insights and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates will have a BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, or other Biological Sciences.
  • Ideal candidates will have some laboratory experience involving molecular biology techniques and RNA biochemistry.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment in industrial biotechnology R&D is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sequence analysis programs.
  • A motivated individual passionate about biotechnology innovation and eager to contribute to the discovery, development, and manufacturing of mRNA-based therapeutics.
