Job Description

Primrose Bio, a biotechnology company enabling the development of innovative therapeutics, vaccines, and manufacturing tools, is seeking to fill a Senior Manager of Business and Product Development.

The Senior Manager of Business and Product Development will drive the growth of our PeliCRM197® and Prima RNApols™ franchises, including the launch of a direct-to-consumer version of the Prima RNApols.  The role will involve outbound business development activities to secure new clients and partnerships, requiring excellent communication and negotiation skills.  The ideal candidate should have experience with CDAs and MTAs, and preferably some licensing experience.  Proficiency in utilizing CRM for tracking business opportunities, market trends, and developing sales strategies is essential.  They should be results-driven, self-motivated, and able to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.  This role offers the chance to significantly impact the company’s growth and success in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and secure new business opportunities for the PeliCRM197® and Prima RNApols™ franchises as part of the business development team to capture and close new deals.
  • Manage existing business relationships and develop new partnerships to drive growth.
  • Play a crucial role in the launch and market development of a direct-to-consumer Prima RNApols business.
  • Oversee the transition of early-stage customers to higher volume and manage licensing for commercial use of the products.
  • Oversee go-to-market activities, including product launches and marketing efforts, to ensure successful product introduction and market adoption.
  • Conduct market research to assess market size, competitive landscape, and create actionable strategies to address these insights.
  • Develop and execute Voice of the Customer (VOC) activities to improve current and future product offerings.
  • Monitor product performance and customer feedback, and develop customer case studies to showcase product success and applications.
  • Work closely with technical and scientific teams to address market needs, ensuring continuous product improvement and a quality customer experience with our products.
  • Collaborate with management and internal groups to maintain operational excellence, including logistics, order intake, inventory management, and invoicing.
  • Monitor and report on the financial performance of the product lines, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 20%.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in establishing product and partnering relationships in biopharmaceutical development.
  • Deep understanding of industry dynamics and key success factors in vaccine and mRNA-based medicine product development.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a product line, including responsibility for product development, market positioning, and achieving significant revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of online sales strategies, including the ability to analyze sales and web traffic data (e.g., Google Analytics) to inform and optimize advertising spend and effective placement.
  • Strong appreciation for the challenges in launching new technology innovations, switching costs, and strategies for “crossing the chasm” to increase market adoption.
  • Proven ability to engage potential partners across various functions (R&D, business development, procurement) and clearly communicate value propositions.
  • Able to implement and negotiate CDAs, MTAs, and supply agreements.  Licensing experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in presenting complex technical information, in both virtual and in-person settings, to a diverse technical and business focused audience.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring high-quality standards to ensure customer and partner success.
  • Experience in using customer management platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Inova)
  • Hands-on knowledge of marketing, finance, and strategy to develop, make, and execute on workplans based on informed decisions.
  • B.S.  in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or equivalent fields is required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
